It’s always a good day when we can benefit kids in need in Atlanta!
My brother Block and I met Mr. Antonio Lewis, a fifth-generation Atlanta resident, representing District 12 on the Atlanta City Council at the Athletes Foot at West End Mall. At his side was Tyrese Miller, his Senior Advisor, and a passionate community organizer advocating for black students.
Partnering with the Athletes Foot, Councilman Lewis and his Advisor, Tyrese Miller are donating fresh new sneakers for kids in need in southwest Atlanta. What an act of integrity and support!
But that’s not all these brothers are doing to support better education in underserved schools. Councilman Lewis also speaks at schools and mentors youth by coaching sports teams and conducting college tours with upcoming graduates. Tyrese Miller, because of his experience as a student at South Atlanta High School, has been invited to speak at the Social and Emotional Learning Symposium at his old high school by the Principal, Dr. Beverly Ford.
The responsibility we all have to help our young brothers and sisters in the struggle they face weighs heavy on my heart. It’s my wish to stay in touch with Councilman Lewis and Tyrese, and find out all the ways I can help. If my story can help, I will do all I can to lift up the young people facing the big odds against them here in Atlanta.
